ASEAN STUDENTS’ VISIT PROGRAMME
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with Ministry of External Affairs Govt of India (MEA) and Asian Secretariat had organized ASEAN –India Student Exchange Programme 2016. We had a delegation of about 100 students from ASEAN countries like, Brunei-Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR and Malaysia.
The students were given an overview of SIU along with a brief presentation about the International office. This was followed by the campus tour.
The Director and Faculty of SIMC, interacted with the students and the SIMC showcased the films made by them. This gave an insight into the kind of studies and practical knowledge they undertake at SIMC.
Deakin University, Australia (Finance Study Tour) November 2016
The Study India Program was conducted for 17 students from Deakin University, Australia and a Professor along with Symbiosis Center for Management Studies, Pune (SCMS, Pune). This was a week long program focusing on Finance subject of Mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The lectures along with case study discussion were conducted by SCMS, Pune. As part of the program, the students were taken to Price Water Coopers House (PWC) for a practical approach on the M&As done across companies in the world.
The students also visited famous heritage places across Pune as part of the cultural immersion in the city. A cricket match also organized between the Australian and SIU students at Lavale.
Canada (OMG) SIP August 2016
The Study India Program was conducted for 6 students from the Canadian Universities who came to us through the Ontario Maharashtra Goa (OMG) consortium. This was a month long program and they were exposed to a varied culture from rural to urban aspects of life.
The lectures were conducted for Indian culture, History, Business, rural and urban technology followed by the relevant study tours to get the practical angle of what they were introduced to in the classrooms. They went for a visit to a typical Indian Village and also to an urban industrial setup. An interesting part of this program was the students undertook a week long internship in a NGO to teach children of construction workers. They had a hands on experience to communicate and interact with the school kids and parents.
STUDY INDIA PROGRAM – SOFTWARE SOLUTION DESIGN
Hosted for Ritsumeikan University, Japan
Symbiosis Centre for International Education under the aegis of the Symbiosis International University hosted Study India Program for 12 students from Ritsumeikan University, Japan from August 5, 2016 to September 9,2016.
The program offered the students an opportunity to explore and understand India’s rich and diverse cultural heritage combining it with academic module on Software solution design, a project based learning approach for developing software application and industrial visits.
The knowledge and understanding of the cultures involved in this program leaves a lasting impact on an enhanced world view of its participants. Participating students are trained for global leadership, to increase efficiency, respect for other cultures and political and economic systems. The important characteristic of this program is to provide a platform for students to discuss solutions to problems faced in field of technology by using their knowledge and skills for the development in India and Japan.
AMREF SIP 2016
SCIE in collaboration with Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) conducted the Study India Program specifically for the Health Faculty. This year the participants for this program came through United States International University, (USIU) Africa and AMREF Health Africa, (which is the largest African health development non-governmental international organization based in Africa, committed to improving health and health care in Africa.)
Through this we received 30 participants from 5 African countries namely Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Zambia and Tanzania and USA. The program lasted over a week and included the specialized Hospital visits and lectures from prominent industry speakers. They also visited the Comprehensive Rural Health Project (CRHP) in Jamkhed followed by a Pharmaceutical company visit.
Edith Cowan University
We had received 9 students with 1 faculty member for the first time. They were with Symbiosis from 16 Jan to 23 Jan 2016. The students from Edith Cowan University were Media students and the program was conducted along with SIMC. The students completed their assignments in the form of short documentaries. They visited the Hivre Bazar village where they filmed the entire village. SIMC conducted editing workshops for them.
Ministry of Overseas India Affairs
SCIE had received 4th batch of 13 students from 7 different countries including South Africa, Israel, France, Trinidad Tobago, Mauritius, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka through the Ministry. The program was conducted over 4 weeks from 20 Jan to 16 Feb 2016. The students visited Ajantha and Ellora caves, Mahableshwar, Mumbai and also Bangalore and Mysore, where they visited our SIBM, Bangalore campus. On the last day the students presented presentations and short film on their experience along with song and dance recitals.
University of Cologne
The 12 students from University of Cologne along with a Faculty came for the program under the DAAD initiative from 28 Feb to 6 Mar 2016. They were given lectures on various topics, along with visits to the Suhana factory, NGO visit etc
Study India Program for students from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore
SCIE conducted the Study India program for students of NTU. There were 12 students from different backgrounds for whom lectures followed by excursions and visits were conducted from 6th Dec to 21 Dec 2015.
Erasmus Plus Workshop
European Union Delegation to India & Bhutan conducted workshop on Erasmus+, Jean Monnet and Marie Sklodowska – Curie Actions which focused on the international aspects of the programmes, focusing on funding opportunities for India-Europe mobility and cooperation.
Brian Toll, Senior Policy Adviser, International Cooperation in Education and Youth, European Commission, DG Education & Culture, Brussels presented details of the call 2016 and a number of successful past projects as well as lessons learnt. This program was initiated by Sanjeev Roy, Senior Higher Education Expert, EU Public Diplomacy and Outreach in India and in the SAARC regions.
The workshops was organised from 0930 to 1730 hours on Wednesday 28th October at Symbiosis International University,Convention Centre, Lavale.
