International Students’ Day:
At Symbiosis, we celebrate Prof. (Dr.) S. B. Mujumdar Sir’s birthday, which falls on 31st July, as International Students’ Day. It is celebrated over two-days wherein there are several events such as Tree Plantation, NGO Visit, Food Festival, Flag Hoisting, and Cultural Dance Competition.
This event serves as a platform for the international students to showcase their unique cultural identity and learn about the different cultures and traditions from across the globe.
In the food festival, students cook various delicious dishes from their country’s cuisine. They decorate their food stalls with décor to display their country’s rich culture. During the Tree plantation drive, the students plant a sapling/ plant in their country’s name. This is also an endeavor to make the students more eco conscious. By taking part in the NGO visit, students learn to contribute back to the society and the various social causes that they can support. It also teaches them how non-governmental organizations (NGOs) work.
The flag hoisting ceremony provides students an opportunity to hoist their country’s flag and sing their country’s national anthem in a foreign land with pride. The students proudly represent their country by welcoming the Chief Guest with their country’s flag during the ceremonial flag presentation in the evening function. In the cultural dance competition, we get to witness the rich and diverse culture of countries across the globe through their dance forms and dance attires.
International Students’ Day celebration at Symbiosis is always looked forward to by the International student community with great enthusiasm.
